A trigger sprayer pressurises on every pull, so it is best for small volumes and precise work such as spot-treating wheels or interior panels. A hand pressure sprayer is pumped up once and then delivers a continuous spray, which is what you want when covering a whole car in pre-wash or working through several wheels without stopping.
