Frequently asked questions

Which Menzerna compound do I need?
The numbers indicate where each product sits from cut to finish. 300 Super Heavy Cut and 400 Heavy Cut are for serious defect removal, 1000 Heavy Cut sits just below them, 2500 Medium Cut handles typical swirl marks, and 3000 Final Finish, 3500 Super Finish and 3800 Super Finish Plus refine down to maximum gloss. If you want one product, the One-Step 3 in 1 or Cut Force Pro covers correction and finish in a single stage.
Why do professionals use Menzerna?
Because the range is built around long working times and predictable behaviour, which is what matters when you are correcting cars for money rather than for a weekend. The compounds stay workable long enough to spread properly across a section, they finish down cleanly rather than leaving hazing to chase, and the numbered system means you can specify a repeatable process. It is a body shop product line that happens to work very well for enthusiasts too.
Can I use Menzerna compounds on a dual action polisher?
Yes, they work on both dual action and rotary machines, but the pad and process matter more on a DA because you have less cutting power to work with. Use a firmer cutting pad, spread at low speed, then work at speed four to five with slow passes and around 50% overlap, keeping the pad flat. Test one small section before committing to a panel, and step down a grade as soon as the defects are clearing.
What is the difference between 3500 and 3800?
Both are finishing products and the difference is where they sit in the process. 3500 Super Finish is the refining polish for removing the light haze left by a cutting stage and bringing up gloss. 3800 Super Finish Plus goes a step further for maximum clarity, particularly on dark and soft paint where any remaining micro-marring shows. On lighter or harder paint the difference is hard to see, so 3500 is usually enough.
